MOTHER sees you dealing with insomnia, grief over your recently-deceased husband, and struggling to battle the twisted things that are trying to take your children away.
It’s hard enough that you’re a newly-single mother trying your best to keep your two kids happy and healthy. Adding insomnia onto that would be more than enough to overwhelm most people, but poor Mary also has to contend with some gruesome creatures that are trying to break into her home and kill her children. She’ll need your help to deal with this nerve-wracking position, rushing around her house to fend off the monsters and find her kids before they fall to their attackers.
Saying this is tense is putting it very lightly. These things are always pressing in on your windows or skulking around your gloomy apartment. This would be bad enough if you just had to keep yourself out of trouble, but your kids have minds of their own. They will make their own decisions about exploring the house at night if they need some food or get bored. This means you’ll need to find them fast if they run into something in the gloom, especially so since they can be killed permanently if you fail them.
MOTHER is a tense, terrifying experience, forcing you to face your fears of the monsters in order to keep your kids alive. It creates a powerful fear as you rush headlong into the thing that frightens you to keep your loved ones safe, and offers an uncomfortable look at what you’d be willing to face to save your own loved ones in need.
