Mummy Sandbox sees you helping a sentient scarf dig in the ground for some useful body parts and other goodies. Can you figure out what to do with them, though?
Guided by a disembodied voice, you set out to become a mummy. I mean, I guess it sounds cool, especially around Halloween. Trouble is, you don’t have enough body parts to be able to do that. And people have up and buried all of those cool-looking corpses in a sea of sand and earth. So, you need to grab a shovel (if you have one) and start digging for whatever neat stuff you can find. It’s not just bodies in the ground, though. You can find all sorts of other neat accessories and items. Graverobbing is full of surprises.
Among those surprises is the question of what you need to do to these bodies. Digging up a corpse doesn’t just allow you to do whatever you want to it. You have to use the right item on it if you want to borrow an arm or leg. This can involve a bit of trial-and-error, but it’s satisfying to know you’ve made an old corpse happy by guessing which item works right with it. At worst, you may have to do some more digging around to find the tool you need. While doing that, you’ll be digging up more sand you can make sand castles with, so it’s hard to complain.
Mummy Sandbox is an eerie, yet delightful adventure game of trying to figure out what a dead body needs. Just because they’re dead doesn’t mean they couldn’t use a favor.
Mummy Sandbox is available now on itch.io and Steam.
