Orbital Bullet sees you fighting it out in circular stages, watching as your shots (and those of your enemies) curve around the battlefield in mind-bending ways.
That circular arena and gunplay is really what makes the game special, even if it was a bit difficult for my mind to wrap around. As all fired shots will curve all the way around the arena’s circumference, you can try to aim shots at someone on the other side of the circle from you. I had to really focus to get my head to think in that kind of space, but even just doing that was satisfying and engaging. It’s something you’ll likely get used to over time, and it makes for something I’ve never personally seen in a game before.
On top of that, you’ve got a solid base of things to make the game interesting. It generates its stages, giving players as many different fighting grounds as they could want. It’s got roguelite action, adding some compelling pressure to the play, but you do gain currency you can spend on permanent upgrades even if you die. You’ll slowly grow in power even if you’re finding it hard to figure out how to shoot things on the other side of that circle. The game can also grow a lot harder if you’ve got a mind that adapts to this space well, with the game growing more difficult as your winning streak grows.
Orbital Bullet is worth checking out for its circular shooting action, but it offers some compelling reasons to stay there for its roguelite action as well. Just give yourself some extra time to get used to thinking about how your shots will work.
Orbital Bullet is available now on Steam Early Access.
