Parasitic Business is a turn-based battle game where you’re a pigeon who eats the folks he defeats, growing his cells and skills.
The story behind this game is a little hazy to me. This turn-based fighting game has you playing as a pigeon that previously was a janitor at a very tall (and empty) office complex full of other creatures who seem to maybe work there. I am not sure what turned this pigeon into a cold-blooded killer, but here we are!

Rounds in Parasitic Business are pretty simple. You are presented with at least one enemy. Sometimes, these are tiny eyes, sometimes they are office-looking dummies, and sometimes they are rats stacked up on top of each other with a gun.
On your turn, you are able to pick what move you want to do, which has to do with the cells you can use that round. There is a little box that shows you the next two cell moves you will get, but these cells are specific colors to show what move you can use; attack, shield, heal and skill. You can, over time, get more than one of the same color cell, which comes up from time to time, increasing the effectiveness of the move that you are doing.

After you have defeated a room of enemies, you are able to choose one of the fallen enemies and eat them, giving you some options to upgrade yourself. Sometimes these are new skills to use and other times they are increases to your other abilities. Then, you enter the elevator and go up a floor to do it all again. From time to time, there is an option to start trying to duplicate specific cells, but this doesn’t happen very often or straight away.
In the demo of the game that I played at BCN Game Fest, I got a skill that increased my shield and damaged an enemy, as well as a skill that increased my health and damaged an enemy. These felt very good to use and I then started trying to get more cells that could use the ability! It’s a fun game where you do need to think ahead and plan out your moves. Especially as the rats get guns.
Parasitic Business is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam.
