Path to Mnemosyne is an endless walk through the mind – a journey through twisting memories on infinite paths of distorted thought.
Path to Mnemosyne places you on surreal pathways, telling its story by the imagery you pass as you walk along them. Moving along the various routes open to you, you’ll slowly collect your lost memories as you piece together an unsettling image of your existence.
Various puzzles will stand in your way, tasking you with solving them if you wish to move on, or collecting the right items you need as you spy them on your walk. Beyond the puzzles, simply walking the path, which twists and bends as you choose your way, is a puzzle in itself, one that gives the story and play this sense of warped reality. You feel that you are moving deeper into a place you shouldn’t be.
Path to Mnemosyne‘s visual style, and the eerie smoothness with which you find yourself moving deeper and deeper into realms of nightmare, gives the game a powerful presence as you explore. It draws you further into it without a word no matter how uncomfortable its depths seem to be, demanding you solve the more complex puzzle of its narrative itself. It’s a disturbing walk into a troubled mind and memories, but one that is difficult to turn away from.
Path to Mnemosyne is available for $9.99 on Steam. It will be release on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in the future.
