Retired dwarven hero Brialynne finds herself searching for a missing artifact in a fantasy vision of America’s past (that ties to many current woes) in Pendula Swing.
Pendula Swing is a re-imagining of the twenties with fantasy creatures, taking a time of jazz and the automobile and mingling it with orcs, goblins, and elves. It’s a time Brialynne isn’t quite comfortable with, what with all of the changes in fashion, music, and more. As you explore this world and get to know its triumphs and woes while looking for the missing artifact, you’ll also discover who Brialynne was, and who she will be.
Pendula Swing involves you in the process of understanding what kind of person Brialynne is, though. While seeking a missing artifact and choosing who to help in this adventure, you’ll also be able to decide what you involve yourself in or not. Looking at some of the social ills of the time in the treatment of goblins and other fantasy beings, it asks you to take part in who Brialynne is, exploring what your own behavior might be in this times of prejudice.
The most recent episode, Pendula Swing Episode 3 – Orcing Hard or Hardly Orcing?, takes Brialynne to the seedy bars in the harbor, offering new characters and dilemmas to deal with. It’s still up to you how you deal with the problems you come across, but in exploring these and shaping Brialynne’s identity, hopefully we can come to our own terms with some problems that have stuck around since those times.
Pendula Swing Episode 3 – Orcing Hard or Hardly Orcing? is available for $4.99 on Steam, but requires the main game (available for free here) to play.
