Maybe you aren’t afraid of penguins. They’re so cute with those little waddles, right? Penguin’s Dogma|獄門ペンギン will soon fix that.
Sorta?
You awaken in a cold, sterile facility. It’s a lonely, quiet place, but there’s a strange squeaking sound coming from the halls. And there’s also several full chicken dinners lying around, too, but we’re not questioning a free meal. You’re free to roam and have a look around this place, trying to figure out what’s going on, but don’t expect to meander for long. The source of those cute squeaks will make itself known soon.
A penguin with a blunt object (maybe a couple of penguins if you’re feeling feisty) is on a leisurely walk through the halls, and it’ll beat you down if it catches sight of you. They’re as relentless as they are adorable, so you’ll have to be clever in your escape (especially with limited stamina, although you gain more by cramming chicken dinners in your face). Some completely ridiculous, upbeat, cartoon-ish tunes play as these murderous birds dog you, though, so at least you’ll be laughing as you’re trying to avoid a beat down.
Penguin’s Dogma is somehow chilling and hilarious at the same time, offering genuine tension as you work around the penguins and try to make your way through the facility. It’s beyond hilarious to hear those squeaky feet coming your way, that goofy music ringing in your ears, and makes for a great mixture of fear and funny. It’s well worth trying out if you like a touch of the absurd in your horror.
Penguin’s Dogma|獄門ペンギン is available now on Steam.
