Post Void aims for you to rush through its halls as fast as possible, encouraging twitchy reactions to procedurally-generated shootout situations.
You’ve got an idol that needs to be filled with liquid, so naturally you decide to do this by getting kills. Well, there’s no shortage of twisted creatures that mean to gnaw on your face or blast it off, so you may as well start rushing around and taking foes out. Just be sure to catch those precious bodily fluids from each kill. And try not to think about how gross your actions are, I guess?
Luckily, this game isn’t designed with “time to think” in mind. Instead, it’s about pushing your reflexes to their limits, driving you to go through the halls as fast as you can manage. You shoot and run at an absurd rate, which makes the whole experience incredibly compelling. The speed itself draws you in, making you want to see how quickly you can dispatch enemies without getting obliterated yourself. It’s a bloodbath that’s hard to walk away from as it tests your limits, all while the permanence of failure makes every screw-up cost you big time.
Post Void captures the chaotic spirit of twitchy old FPS games, where winning and losing felt like they happened with a single missed maneuver as you hurtled through the arena. Combining it with this surreal universe of quivering places and bizarre beings only makes the experience feel that much more dizzying and captivating, creating a shooter experience that feels nearly impossible to walk away from.
Post Void is available now on Steam.
