The heroine of Princeless is not about to get married no matter how many security robots and systems mean to hold her to this imminent wedding.
Judging from playing Princeless at the Sweden Game Conference, getting the princess out of her predicament is going to be far from easy. Security robots patrol the castle, their gaze casting a green glow on the floor. Not only this, but there are cameras scanning the environments, keycards needed for doors, and mechanisms that somehow need to be pushed or used by the same machines meaning to lock you up.
What’s a royal gal to do? Besides skulking in between robot lines of sight or using alarms to trick them into hitting mechanisms, you’ll also use her shrinking powers. In a snap, the princess can become a tinier version of herself, able to sneak under tables or through much smaller openings. This ability will be vital in staying out of sight, as otherwise, it’s back to the door to the room for you. They’re not exactly an energetic security force, are they?
Princeless doesn’t look to have you watching patrol routes or taking your time, instead pushing players to move quickly through its sneaking puzzles. Silly and well-crafted for a player who enjoys their stealth at a brisk pace, it’s a charming game of staying out of sight.
