Turning off the lights before bed is a uniquely terrifying experience for a child, which Bedtime Fright has turned into a light-extinguishing puzzle game.
Bedtime Fright presents you with a bunch of well-lit tiles, each needing you to pass through them a few times to click all of the lights off. The trouble for this child protagonist is that, unlike childhood Joel who was likely scared of nothing, this kid is being dogged by something spooky in the dark, and will need to stay well ahead of it to keep from being frightened.
With a spooky creature on your tail, Bedtime Fright asks you to think about your route through the ever-darkening room, switching off lights as you try to stay a few steps ahead of the monster. You’ll also need to land in your bed by the end of the night, turning off the lamp beside your sleeping place so you can get under the monster-banishing covers. That’s just how it works. Ask any kid.
Bedtime Fright is a cute puzzle game that may take you back to some unpleasant childhood memories in a pleasant way. Because who’s afraid of monsters grabbing them when they shut the lights off as an adult, right?
Not me, that’s for sure…
Bedtime Fright is currently in development, but you can try the Ludum Dare version here.
