Anything not touched by the light is free to change in chaotic ways in Where Shadows Slumber, forcing players to use darkness to open up every-changing pathways.
Obe has found a strange lamp in the forest, and will take a journey with this light source through a world that is constantly changing any time shadows fall upon it. The light forces things to stay as they are when you’re looking upon them in this moment, but if your light source, or any of the others in the stage, become blocked or altered in some way, anything in the darkness is free to change in some unsettling ways.
To make it through the various areas of Where Shadows Slumber, you’ll need to manipulate darkness and light in order to change or keep the land in whatever way you need it. If a path isn’t open to you, you need to cover up a light source to give the land opportunity to change in the dark, and if the way is clear, you need to be sure it stays lit up, lest reality shift and leave you without a way to go.
Where Shadows Slumber offers some clever puzzles and a narrative that can get quite dark as you push through its night realms. Just try to stay in the light yourself as you go through it. Unless you need a change as well, that is.
