You need to gather enough coins from the space-warehouse you are in to buy your way to freedom in Star Raid.
A pure, passive platform game made as an entry for the LowRez Jam 2018, Star Raid challenges you to pull off a massive heist on an interstellar space warehouse. The goal is simple: secure 200 of the coins within its walls and then you can blast off into space, rich enough to never need to pull off another heist again.
Made to the 64×64 bit restrictions laid out by the LowRez Jam, while also made with a generously-sized protagonist, Star Raid feels claustrophobic at times, but thankfully, there’s no enemies in the game. It’s simply a player-lead, slow-paced rummage through an extensive warehouse.
There are secrets along the way to be found too, as some walls give way and can net you a massive pile of coins. Some crawlspaces open up to alternative routes, dropping you back onto your course once you’re done passing beyond the piping and crates which litter the warehouse.
Even though Star Raid was finished up in somewhat of a rush due to the nature of the jam, it can be played from beginning to end with no issue (although it should be noted that the build currently lacks both sound effects and background music). The attention to detail has instead gone into some clever, pixel-perfect platforming moments and well laid out leaps of faith — there’s also a very cute animation for when your character clambers up onto a platform.
