Have your ever wondered about the daily struggles to stay alive that animals face? Rev lets you take control of a hungry fox (or maybe even a couple of them) that is looking to find its next meal.
When you think about how foxes hunt, it’s probably not a hack-n-slash type deal, is it? Foxes are cunning and take their time when they need to make their strike count. To be an effective hunter, you’ll need to stalk your prey carefully without scaring it off in order to land a deadly blow. With straightforward controls, you should be mastering this skulking movement in no time, but some of your prey may require a little more finesse and twitch-like reflexes. You wouldn’t want these cute foxes to go hungry, right?
Each day you’ll have a goal amount of food to collect so that you can survive. Of course, difficulty will ramp up as you continue onto bigger prey that needs coordinated attacks to be taken down. You’ll be able to command another fox to ambush such prey. Once you’ve landed a charged attack, you can send your friend in to take down any leftover health. Always good to have that insurance when it comes to your livelihood. This can be a tricky maneuver as well since you’ll be commanding two separate units simultaneously. You’ll have to be careful to not accidentally spook your prey with your back-up fox (like I did) and end up chasing a very fast rabbit for the better part of two minutes. At least the environments are gorgeous, so it’s hard to get too upset as you take in the lovely woods.
While the premise is simplistic, Rev‘s hunting mechanic is surprisingly compelling and really brings out your inner predator.
