RUNONCE will only run one time, and you will have doomed a cute desktop buddy in opening it. How will you spend the little time you have with them?
RUNONCE brings an adorable friend into existence when you start it up. Isn’t that nice? Except this pal is born to fade away, and all because you started the game up. That’s a heavy burden to carry, but what about our digital friend who knows that the end is coming? Can you imagine what that must feel like?
You can attempt to console your friend and make amends for the destruction you’ve heaped onto their life. By talking to them throughout RUNONCE, you can help them explore their feelings about life and what lies beyond, and perhaps even think on your own mortality in this being’s end. Which you have to bring about by using “End Task,” as our poor pal does not mean to go quietly. And in case you don’t already feel like a horrible monster at this point, RUNONCE will save photos and memories from your interactions with your friend.
“Powerful” really doesn’t even begin to describe RUNONCE. It’s an experience in grief and loss and the joy to be found in life, carrying a connection so affecting that it shatters the heart in its ending.
