Sayonara Wild Hearts sends players hurtling through the striking, colorful streets, telling a story of heartbreak and heroism through its interactive song and dance.
The game follows a woman who’s had her heart broken. This causes an imbalance in the universe – one that leads you to another world of street races in sumptuous, otherworldly places. There, you’ll do dance battles with masked strangers, rush down streets on motorcycles, and swing a shimmering sword as you find your own way through dazzling songs.
Sayonara Wild Hearts is a testament to the subtle courage that lies in moving on from heartbreak, and how the simple act of existing, even when you feel destroyed, shows great bravery. These events seem almost ridiculous when stemming from a single heartbreak, but in inhabiting the music and battling through it – in finding the power to dance and move on after a crushing sadness – you cannot help but feel lifted up. The game is a dizzying dance of music and beautiful battles, and that inciting moment lends the game a powerful message within it all.
It’s also a wonderful experience, but you may have heard me gush about this before. Sayonara Wild Hearts‘ compelling movements through striking cityscapes and stirring battles, all carried along by a pulsing beat, makes for some good times you definitely need to have yourself. That it carries such a great message along with it makes the game something you really shouldn’t pass up.
Sayonara Wild Hearts is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Apple Arcade.
