SCHiM has you playing as a spirit that is looking to reattach to their proper object, but can only move in the shadows of others on the way there.
As a SCHiM who is currently not in the shadow of their object, you will need to use other shadows to hop around, avoiding the light and being outside. There is no real timer or anything pushing you forward faster. Even if you do find yourself outside of a shadow for too long, you’ll just reset to the last shadow you were safely in. This shadow is like a pond – a world that you can move around in. However, these shadows often move as well, so you can follow them and use them to get to other places. Maybe hop aboard a jogger’s shadow and see where they’ll take you.
You can pull at items to elongate the shadows and launch your spirit further so that you can continue to discover the world! Moving around in SCHiM feels good, especially as you splash into the shadows without actually being seen. The game takes an interesting world filled with activities, people, and objects, and allows you to explore the shadows as they move and connect with one another. Just try not to be seen much as you find the spirits that are attached to different objects around the world. Hopefully you can help your spirit find their object and be reunited, too.
I got to spend some time with SCHiM at WASD where I fell in love with the world and tried to find other spirits for my spirit to know. It’s a game so unlike any other game that I have played, and it feels so polished and well made, too.
SCHiM is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
