Art Puzzle – Shape of the Nature is a relaxing puzzle game where you piece together a bunch of segments of a picture so that you can see what it is.
In puzzles, normally, all of the pieces are separated. But in this game, there is a twist. All of the pieces are actually connected together, physically, so you are often limited in where you can pull them about. Once you get a piece in the right place, they actually connect to the pieces around them. You can disconnect them if you need to, but once all of them are connected, the puzzle is complete and you can move onto the next one.
Most pieces that are not stuck to others are limited by the line they can move on (those grey background lines). Some can go in circles while others are stuck on arches, which means that you might need to move them back and forth on their line, rotating the piece, until it snaps into place and becomes a part of the puzzle.
The various chapters in Shape of the Nature are all themed around different words. Most are themes that fit into in nature like Aquatic or Desert, while one festive theme actually showcases a lot of Christmas-inspired puzzles. Each of the chapters have ten puzzles which get more and more complex as you get deeper in the level.
I came across the title in the My First Game Jam: Winter 2022 jam, where its twist on puzzles and visual aesthetic really stood out to me. I found my time playing through all of the levels quite fun. Although Shape of the Nature is a simple game, the twist on puzzles and beautiful visual style does make it a stand out entry.
