Count Dracula is dead. That makes you an out-of-work vampire hunter. What will you do to keep yourself gainfully employed now?
Simon Quest: Transylvania Adventure casts you as Simon Quest, heroic vampire hunter. Well, you would be if Stan Helsing hadn’t up and killed Dracula before you could get there. What a jerk. Anyway, that glory was supposed to be yours, and besides, what sorts of jobs can you get for being good with a whip besides vampire hunting? The only solution is to resurrect the foul beast so that you can kill him yourself. This totally reasonable plan will carry you across Wallachia as you find the means to bring Dracula back so you can defeat him.
This homage to a certain vampire killing series and many other NES titles will have you working your way across a danger-filled countryside, using your fancy whipping skills (and some special weapons) to defeat monsters and get the things you need to revive Dracula. As an homage, much of it will seem quite familiar to those who’ve been whipping mummies, decapitated medusas, and errant skeletons for a few decades now, but with some nice new touches as well.
A proof-of-concept demo for Simon Quest: Transylvania Adventure is available now. Some of the game’s features are enabled a bit early to show them off, some places are blocked off entirely, and some aspects may contain a few bugs. Still, if you’re game to try out some crooked vampire hunting, feel free to cause undue trouble for the people of Wallchia in this game.
