A space pirate’s gotta eat, right? Well, when you’re chowing down on the alien plants of Space Captain McCallery, you may want to watch what you consume.
Space Captain McCallery follows the title character as they deal with mutinies, being stranded on odd worlds, and the search for treasure and adventure. You’ll follow them across varied lands filled with belligerent wildlife (YOU are the one invading their home, though), which you’ll have to blast with lasers. Or throw rocks at if you want to conserve ammo. McCallery seems to have been working out, judging from the boulders he throws.
All of this wandering and mutiny shenanigans works up an appetite, which may cause you trouble on alien planets. McCallery can eat various plants while exploring, and these can restore health, improve dashing, protect from falls, or cause hallucinations. You’ll have to pay attention to what you’re eating so that you don’t end up going on a magical, imagined journey right as you’re tangling with some powerful extraterrestrial boss. Unless you’re playing on Survival Mode (which removes checkpoints and item/enemy respawns) and want it to be harder, that is.
There are two chapters of Space Captain McCallery available now, taking you to lavender swamp planets and scorching desert worlds. There’s many a secret to be found within each, but just don’t accidentally give yourself an upset tummy as you wander.
Episode 1 and Episode 2 of Space Captain McCallery are available on Steam.
