Star Seeker in: the Secret of the Sorcerous Standoff has all of the evidence you need to figure out what’s wrong in one room filled with silly characters.
A wizard has been shot to death (maybe), and in retrospect, I’m not sure if that really counts as a ‘silly’ crime, but the evidence you can put together to make your case is pretty goofy. The entire case is contained in this single room, and given the array of oddball magical items lying around, you can come up with some pretty outlandish accusations. The game will always roll with whatever you try to put together, so just trying to find all of the bizarre, incorrect answers is going to be a great time all on its own.
You’re a magic user in a world where magic use is HIGHLY illegal, though, so maybe you shouldn’t always be pushing your luck with the clueless detective. Not that things don’t stay ridiculous as you work to make all of the evidence in the room make logical sense. They just get the tiniest bit less silly. The guy IS dead, after all. Since all evidence combinations will prompt reactions, though, you’ll actually have to think hard about what you believe happened here rather than just wait for the game to react to your constant guessing.
Containing a fun, absurd mystery in a compact place makes Star Seeker in: the Secret of the Sorcerous Standoff quite charming to play, offering thoughtful exploration and complete silliness all in one spot.
Star Seeker in: the Secret of the Sorcerous Standoff is available now on itch.io and Steam.
