Defeat galactic monsters by bouncing a star back and forth between you and your magical girl partner in StarCrossed.
StarCrossed is a shmup designed around cooperation, taking five magical heroes across the galaxy to strengthen their bonds together as they overcome evil. To vanquish those sinister space-dwellers, you’ll need to work with a partner and bounce a damaging star back and forth between one another, aiming it together so that it hits your foes. You’re free to move around the screen as well, guiding the star to its target while keeping yourself out of harm’s way.
As the star follows both players as it bounces around, you will need to each get into the correct positions to send the star careening towards enemies as it pings between you. This requires constant teamwork and strategy, encouraging players to make their chosen magical girls work in tandem. Not only this, but you can hit the star back at your friend to increase its speed and Sync Level, with a high Sync Level granting use of an enemy-slamming ultimate ability. With a star flying back and forth between you and enemies to dodge, though, gaining that ultimate won’t be easy.
Despite its focus on arcade shmup action, StarCrossed doesn’t skimp on story. You’ll be working to keep the Harmony Crystal, a magical item that keeps the peoples of the Nova Galaxy unified, safe from danger. Depending on which pair of characters you put together, their bond of friendship will grow through visual novel segments, telling a unique tale each time.
Mixing arcade action, cooperation, and touching stories of friendship, StarCrossed aims to offer a lot to players looking for something to try together.
