Strobophagia | Rave Horror takes you to a supernatural party in the woods that asks for your life as price of entry. I’m not sure you want to party THAT much, though.
A Headless Rave Festival just sounds like a cool name for a party where everyone wears neat masks, but instead it seems to be about dying by the night’s end. Free beer and wine is cool and all, but a hangover is likely the worst you were expecting when you got here. So, what are you to do to get out of here? Oh yeah, it’s an occult party, so the woods around you and some chilling presences are also working against you, so there’s those things to contend with as well.
As you mill about the party, you’ll come across some bizarre puzzles for you to solve if you’re hoping to leave with your head still occupying its current position. These might be a challenge all on your own, but you can use your in-game cell phone to text other partygoers for advice or suggestions on what you should be doing next. They might also provide some moral support, which is better than you usually get out of texting friends who are all at a party with free alcohol.
Strobophagia makes for a intriguing mix of bright neon party vibes and a sense of creeping dread, with a foreboding vibe seeping into every facet of the party. Being scared with a crowd around isn’t something I’ve seen in horror often, so I feel it’s an interesting entry in the genre worth taking a look at.
Strobophagia | Rave Horror is available now on itch.io and Steam.
