SUPER UFO FIGHTER sees you and a friend scrambling to use your space ship tractor beam to pick up all kinds of oddball items to drag to your goal.
The goal of this game is kind of like a crane game at absurd speeds, having you grab tumbling prizes and then drag them to your drop tube. Except your claws are much more powerful than your average crane game. You’ll be able to snag tons of stuff with these powerful tractor beams. The only trouble is that you’ll be fighting with someone else to get the prizes. Ramming, tossing things at one another, and using stage hazards to give your opponent trouble are all fair game when free material goods are on the line. You’d smash your friend with a thrown crab to win a roll of toilet paper, wouldn’t you?
The game offers a handful of different UFO characters to use, each playing a little bit differently, so you may need to make use of more underhanded tricks if you seem like you’re losing. Otherwise, it’s constant chaos as you weave around, trying to use your beam to snag tumbling items (they’ll often fall off-screen if you aren’t quick enough) or dredge them out of your opponent’s beam. The space to play in is quite tight, so it makes the whole round feel like mayhem as you slam into one another, pull prizes your way, and try to dodge all of the various hazards that aim to mess up your winnings.
SUPER UFO FIGHTER is a blast and a terrific party game for a few friends. We loved it at BitSummit a few years ago, and it’s only grown sillier, more colorful, and somehow even more chaotic ever since.
SUPER UFO FIGHTER is available now on the Nintendo eShop and Steam.
