Task Force Kampas, inspired by the Golden Age of Japanese shmups, will have you saving little crocodiles and fighting off loads of different ships.
After selecting one of the strange, playable outcasts (including a grandmother who can avoid bullets quite well. She’s my favorite) and their ships, you are thrust into space to try to help rid the galaxy of an Evil Invasion. You must avoid all of the bullets and enemy ships coming towards you, while also destroying as much as you can. Asteroids move down the screen and disappear, but it seems like most enemies will stick around the screen if not destroyed, trying to make sure you don’t make it far.
As you destroy enemies, you will sometimes gain crocodile creatures, which you’ll need to be saving. In between large levels, you also can gain upgrades that will really help you further along. Boss battles sit between new levels, challenging you to defeat massive monsters launching waves of bullets, huge crabs with lazers, and much more.
Task Force Kampas is a really colorful, bright game with an amazing soundtrack that makes you want to continue playing, even after you have died a bunch of times. You’ll soon be able to unlock various new ships, so get back into the action and enjoy the intense gameplay.
Task Force Kampas is available for $4.99 on Itch.io.
