Tongue-Tied sees you stuck to a metal pole. How will you deal with this icy problem? Stretching that tongue to absurd lengths.
This game deals with that unreasonably large childhood fear I had growing up: licking a pole and sticking to it. I’m not sure why that seemed like such a concern growing up. Did I have some deep-seated need to lick froze metal and stick my tongue to it? Maybe I thought I’d trip and stick my tongue out? I have no idea, but this may as well be a horror game for me with how much the idea frightened me. Apparently I had nothing to be afraid of, as I could have just pulled on my tongue until I made my way indoors, if this game is to be believed.
So, you’ve got a stretchy tongue. It’s got limits, although those can be exceeded if you pick up glowing orbs in the area, letting it grow to ever-more absurd lengths. As it grows, you need to figure out the full length you can stretch, and how to best wrap around objects, so that you can get to where you need to go. This means constantly playing around with your routes until you can get long enough to reach other vital parts of the level. I don’t want to spoil this short, silly game, but there are a few odd things you’ll be doing near the end to save yourself.
Tongue-Tied is a fun bit of silly puzzle solving with an ending that did crack me up. Maybe I shouldn’t worry about licking metal poles so much any more.
