What better motivation for beating up baddies then to protect your precious pups? In The Last Friend, a beat ‘em-up/tower defense game, players will be charged with defending man’s most treasured companion: dogs.
If you have a good ability to multitask and strategize, you’ll already be halfway there. With an equally strong love of dogs, you’ll ace each round. Of course, when the waves start coming, it’s hard to keep a clear head as the adrenaline starts to pump and you thump foes who aim to hurt your puppy pals. There is a perfect way to channel that adrenaline, though, and that is through the beat ‘em-up aspect of the game where you can send our enemies sailing.
Being a fan of strategy games, I thought I would do well with The Last Friend. Little did I know that, glancing back at the top of the RV with a bunch of happy little dogs who were unaware of the dangers rushing them, I was thrown off my game. I was panicked and throwing down as many turrets as I could afford in each lane. If I started feeling a turret wasn’t going to cut it, I could rush an enemy and pummel them or toss them into a lane that was more equipped to deal with a particular foe.
I had a lot of fun smashing my enemies into the dirt as they threatened the sweet dogs that sat happily above. There is something oddly satisfying about decimating enemies that seek to harm dogs. I blame John Wick.
The Last Friend is sure to give dog lovers and strategists a run for their money, but it won’t be a walk in the bark!
The Last Friend is coming soon (in 2019) to the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Steam, and Xbox One.

For a tower-defense beat ’em-up mash-up, The Last Friend looks fun.
There’s definitely a Plants vs. Zombies feel to it.
That’s a good thing.
Well done The Stonebot Studio!
And since you mentioned John Wick here, I can’t wait to see Chapter 3.
