Townbox is a sandbox style game where you are building a little town for different creatures that might have silly requests for you.
This sandbox style town building game has you creating your own little escape from the world. With lots of inspiration from Animal Crossing, you are given a small plot of land and the ability to let your creativity run wild as you build whatever you want. There aren’t prices when it comes to what you are placing on the map and you can add as many things as you want, creating a peaceful place for the townsfolk that end up moving into the houses on your land.

As you are building up whatever sort of world you want, you can cause special characters to spawn. These characters have their own little puzzles that you need to solve; one is an egg that needs to be cracked open by throwing them off a building. Another needs you to feed them a bunch of apples for some reason. Helping the creatures in Townbox will then give you more land or different buildings that you can then use to continue to build.
You can also completely ignore your creatures, throw them off the edge of the island and see them respawn, or just stick to building without actually talking to any of them. The whole game feels very freeform with lots of options. When it comes to the style and buildings themselves, they are very cute with a few different color schemes per item. It’s all just giving cute town vibes.
I got the chance to play a demo of Townbox at Devcom this year where I fell off the world a few times and went over to visit other towns nearby, along with building my own. I do like the fact that you can see your friends’ towns in the distance and I think this whole thing would be such an adorable game for all ages to relax and play.
Townbox is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
