In Triggore, spooky nightmare jerks have sprung out of a local graveyard, and you’ve got to hold out through the dead of winter with only what you’ve got in your small, hillside shack.
I remember inheriting a bunch of Sega Master System games from my grandparents’ neighbors back in mid 90’s. Hidden among them was a game called Space Gun. I didn’t actually have a ‘The Sega Light Phaser’ and so could not get far in it at all. However, it created a love for shooting gallery / arcade shooters which I have until this day. LD45 entry Triggore feeds that want richly and I’ve been playing it far too much.
It’s vastly more than a standard shooter, being that you can interact with a bunch of stuff around your house and also have to return to an item in order to reload your guns. Not just that, but you can open and shut doors and windows to slow down (or speed up) your enemy’s approach. Oh, and it’s dark. So dark. This means that you’ll have to grab matches and keep the candles around the room lit. If you don’t, then everything gets much, much harder to see.
It is an incredibly fun and tense experience – one in which you can quickly go from being at full health to dead if you don’t keep an eye on your health or the lights around the room. That said, it’s very smart to move items around so that they’re in areas you can remember for when the matches run out again. Oh, and don’t forget to clean up the gore on the floor. That’ll become very important as the days go on. You’ll regret leaving the place a mess.
