As a lowly farm boy, will you train to grow stronger? Make deals with the sinister forces that aim to take over? Or just try to go on a date with the commander?
Evil forces are beating down your doors in twenty days in Faulty Apprentice, and you’re technically supposed to be doing something about it. That said, it’s up to you what you choose to do. You’re pretty weak to begin with, having nothing to offer anyone besides a letter of recommendation from an (obviously sketchy) wizard, but though training, minigames, taking on jobs, and some smart choices, you can be of some help. Maybe even turn the tide.
Except you might get sidetracked a bit. Most of the folks you can train under or do jobs for are available for dating, with ten viable romance options waiting for your smooth talking. Or blundering babble. Hopefully more of the latter, as I don’t know how building a relationship with your feline-ish magic instructor is really going to help you save the day in the long run. I guess you’re just making the most of your days.
Faulty Apprentice offers many different outcomes based on what you chose to do with your limited time in its world. You can even make alliances with some of the nastier forces in the game’s world if you feel inclined to survive the attack in a more underhanded way. Your date might not find this too charming, though. These twenty days will be filled with a bunch of decisions, so expect to languish over what you want to do with them.
Faulty Apprentice is available now on itch.io and Steam.
