When you get your first pet, a big responsibility lands on your shoulders. In Twilight Tank, you might find you’re not terribly well cut out for that.
Twilight Tank is a little fish tank simulator that was made for the Virtual Pet Jam 2022. In this game, your dad has given you a pet fish that is all your own. You do have a household cat, Jellybean, but nobody thinks this is a problem, despite the missing lid on the fish tank. Within moments of your fish being brought to their new home and named, the cat seems to have swiped them and… well.
Surprisingly, they are still a functioning skeleton fish with an appetite. Feeding them snacks from your lunch seems to be the only way forward, so you will find yourself dropping in cheese-its, cheerios, gummy worms, and whatever else you’d normally find in a kid’s lunch. Run out of food? Thankfully, your pet fish will help you earn money as well by dropping gems – much like the old school fish tank management games that I used to play as a kid. Gems you can maybe buy some more food with.
Keeping the fish fed will help them, as they will turn green if they do not have food. Over time, you can purchase more fish for your tank and the ability to drop in more food at once. Inside your journal, you can review the rules, and future update ideas, which include decorations for your tank! Jellybean still seems to swipe at the tank from time to time, though, so you will need to bat them out of the way so that you do not lose any of your fish. Again.
I found Twilight Tank to be a really cute little game. The story is funny and well written. I like having a skeleton fish that drops gems when you feed them snacks – it’s just a cute and fun little game.
