In UNDYING, you’ve already been infected by a zombie’s bite. Your fate is inevitable at this point. Now, you need to make the most of your time left.
Not that this time won’t be fraught with danger. There’s still undead out there who are more than willing to kill you. Supplies are still scarce. You still need to eat. As does your child, in case taking care of yourself wasn’t hard enough on its own. You’ll have to go out and find the items you need (including things that can slow the infection, although there’s no stopping it) without getting yourself killed for the time you have left. And without getting your kid killed while you’re at it, adding a second life to take care of and a second mouth to feed.
Your child will learn from the actions you take as you explore the wasteland, thankfully. It’s hard enough to be dying without thinking about the little life you’ll be leaving behind, alone and defenseless. Your actions will help him learn how to forage, fight, and survive, depending on how you act when he’s around. This makes it vitally important to teach him things so that he can have a chance after you’ve passed. Still, should you be focused on teaching him things, or grabbing as many items that will help you survive as you can? Should you stockpile, or spend time with your child to savor the few precious moments you have left together. Is teaching him to survive more important than remembering the love that connects you?
UNDYING aims to force you to ask yourself some difficult questions in your final days throughout the game. Hopefully you’ll leave behind a child who’s ready to protect themselves out there.
UNDYING is available now (in an Early Access state) on the Epic Games Store and Steam.
