You’ll follow an elderly woman as she looks for her missing husband in a riot-torn city center, seeking answers to his whereabouts in the surreal, cruel world of Vasilis.
Vasilis’ husband is somewhere in the city’s center, but with all of the riots, dangerous soldiers, cult members, and other dangerous people milling about, it will be very, very difficult to find him. She’ll have to take care, finding the right items to bribe people into giving her information or allowing her safe passage through these battlegrounds. Just don’t get too comfortable relying on anyone for help here, though.
The events of the game are inspired by political events in the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014, aiming to capture the sensation of being a solitary person in a country consumed by fire and riots. This powerful loneliness and fear is compounded by the game’s hand-drawn art style, which loads every person and place with a kind of harsh menace and sense of danger. The hand-scratched style turns everyday places into the stuff of nightmares, which one would likely expect when their home city suddenly finds itself overwhelmed with violence.
Vasilis looks to offer a tense, chilling adventure into the deeply human horrors many have faced in their lives.
Vasilis is available now on Steam.
