Venice 2089 takes us to a future where the tides have been hard on Venice’s tourism. Not that you care. You just want something to do.
Venice isn’t doing too well these days. The lower part of the city is frequently underwater. People aren’t too pleased with their newly-soggy homes. Nova, our protagonist, isn’t terribly interested in all that. They’re looking for a break from their routine. Something that would pique their interest in some fun way. While they’re searching, you’ll lead them around town, meeting folks and hopefully finding something interesting to brighten their day.
Nova can get around using a handy hoverboard, swooping through the streets on the search of something fun. Maybe pull off a few tricks while you’re idly riding around. If that gets old, you can always take your drone out for a spin, using it to hack into the digital corporate billboards in the area. That could lead to some ridiculous moments of fun, right? Making them say something gross or embarrassing would surely crack up a bored teen. Still, if that doesn’t get a reaction from Nova, you can always start talking to the folks who live in the area. Get to know them a little bit. Maybe someone in this city isn’t totally lame.
Venice 2089 is still in development, but its demo shows some sharp art and the beginnings of a likeable protagonist coming through. Besides that, who wouldn’t want a hoverboard?
Venice 2089 is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo from itch.io and add it to your Steam Wishlist.
