Where’s Samantha? has you helping a swatch of cloth find its missing beloved, moving through a world of yarn, socks, and buttons to find them.
Samantha’s been swept up in the breeze, and now George isn’t really sure where’s they’ve blown off to. Somehow, I guess Samantha is the only crafting supply here who can’t handle a gust of wind, so now you’ve got to head out through some toddler’s nightmare creation, navigating a bunch of surprisingly dangerous crafted locales to locate her. And figure out how all of these mechanisms and devices work. There’s a bit of puzzling to do for this errant bit of fabric.
You’ve got forty-five levels to cross, so I can only assume poor Samantha got caught in a hurricane that took her past a few elementary schools filled with clever, somewhat irate children. That’s the only thing that explains the amount of crushing traps, cutting devices, and other mean-spirited devices you’ll need to slip past. Preferably while keeping your swatch intact most of the time. At least you won’t meet a violent end if you tumble into something nasty, though, as all of these craft supplies, dangerous as they are, don’t exactly rip you apart in a shower of gore. It’s quite cute due to its crafted look, even if you do keep losing to it.
Where’s Samantha is quite cute to behold, looking like a video game your grandma might stitch for you if you asked her for a game and she had no idea what you were talking about. “Here, I made you a new game, dearie. It’s full of those Nintendo Mario Twins you like so much.”
Where’s Samantha? is available now on Steam.
