Wildfire will let you and a friend set cities on fire, freeze people in water, or move the earth itself in your quest to sneakily save a captured populace.
You’ve been branded as a witch in a world where magic has just about died out. As such, people are kind of wary about you. Perhaps rightfully so, given that you can burn a whole village down if you aren’t careful with your flames. Still, these powers can be pretty handy when an invading force starts capturing people from your village. To set them free, you’ll have to make use of various elemental magics, using them to tinker with the environment and scare the heck out of your superstitious enemies.
Your magic will react with the environment in realistic ways, which allows for some creative solutions to this enemy infestation. It’s also handy because you’re not going to last long with someone chopping at you with a sword. So, your best bet is to use water to freeze your enemies solid, kick up the ground to provide yourself with new hiding spots (and scare the invaders), or start burning grass, forcing the soldiers to flee. You can come up with many neat solutions using this system, but you also need to be careful that your actions don’t get out of hand. Fire tends to spread, after all.
Wildfire lets you use your powers to create some unique plans that might explode in your face, and that trouble gets doubled when you bring a co-op player in. Still, it would definitely be fun to have you both spreading mayhem in this neat stealth game.
Wildfire is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, the Humble Store, and Steam.
Played this game with my kid. It was a great overall experience minus some very annoying glitches. Plenty of potential for a more fine-tuned sequel.
