With You is a charming experience in learning to communicate more, having you talk and work together to bring harmony to a pair of shapes with legs.
You will control either the semi-circle or the triangle, guiding them through some wordless levels filled with puzzling elements. The most vital part of getting through these places involves working together. Maybe your individual shape is better suited to solve a puzzle. Maybe it’s needed in a specific position. It might just feel pleasant and fun to ride on each others’ backs to get to your destination. The levels are all designed to encourage your work with the person playing beside you. That you talk to one another to work out what needs to be done, and then complete it together.
Not that this is a straightforward experience. The walking shapes can be a bit clunky to get around, but that’s largely done to make sure the players work together. It also inserts a bit of laughter into the experience, which is a lovely touch. Being able to laugh at your problems together, no matter how serious they may be, has gotten me through some difficult times. Having a design element that not only encourages working together, but also brings some silliness into things, is a great way to break the tensions a problem can create. And, I mean, playing puzzle games together is just the best way to play most games in that genre.
With You is a pleasant, comfortable game designed to appeal to a variety of skill levels. It’s a fun and funny game that got me talking with the player beside me, as well as laughing with them while we tried to talk out how we were going to complete its cute puzzles.
With You is available now on itch.io and Steam.
