Tall Bagel sits you down at one of those meals where everyone yammers about nothing. Fortunately, you can make things more interesting with your frog tongue.
Anyway, you’ve been invited out for a meal at a fancy restaurant with all the family. The conversation that ensues is as riveting as you can imagine. Your family members babble about the food. The place itself. How work is going. Naturally, this conversation turns to you, but like most awful dinners, you don’t really seem to get much of a say about what’s going on in your life. Just some passive-aggressive jabs about your finances and what you’re doing with your life. You’ve likely had this ‘conversation’ before (where you’re somehow not involved despite everyone talking about YOU). It’s utter misery, but it’s a free meal.
It doesn’t HAVE to be a terrible experience, though. While your folks drone on about the dullest things ever, you can break up the monotony and petty judging with your frog tongue. I don’t know if you’re a frog and everyone’s being polite. Maybe you’re just a regular person who happens to have a frog tongue. It doesn’t matter, and your family has clearly decided they’re not going to address it. Which kinda gives you free reign to fire your tongue out and grab things. Snatch food from a passing waiter. Steal a glass from one of your family members. Gobble up your menu. If you can grab it, you can eat it, resulting in some delightful interruptions for this awful talk. Trust me, it is funny EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Tall Bagel is a brief experience in getting a little petty revenge on these family members by slapping them with your tongue, but it’s endlessly fun to bother these people. I couldn’t play it just once, as it reminded me of every annoying family meal I’d ever been stuck enduring. Except this time I could cause some much needed trouble. It’s surprisingly cathartic to smack family members with a frog tongue, as it turns out.
Tall Bagel is available now on itch.io. A sequel is also available on itch.io.
