Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times is a sort-of retro-inspired semi-open world puzzle adventure game where you’ll need to think outside the box, as many of the puzzles can be solved in silly ways. You play as a hot-headed mage who was imprisoned until a book fell on their head, revealing to them the way of magic spells.
As it turns out, the majority of the people in this world seems to have disappeared, and you’re the only person who can figure out why! Along with a strange gem-bug who can give you hints (and seems to have previously have been on the cover of the magic book), you have to explore and try to find the solutions for the various problems that appear.

As you explore Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times’ world you will also pick up more runes. These runes are used to cast magic spells. At first, your spell allows you to move things around the map (which is very useful for getting up to new places), but over time you learn to freeze things, duplicate yourself, and more.
You do need to look at the world as though everything is interactive. Often objects that you don’t think you should move or interact with are exactly the things that you need to solve the issues you are facing. It’s interesting and sort of complex, in a silly way. I do love that your gem-bug can help you – as when I played the demo at New Game Plus, I found myself not quite thinking as wide as the game wants.

Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times feels captivating, wacky, colorful and somehow nostalgic while also feeling memorable and distinct. It’s just a very interesting game, with strange puzzles and narration full of character.
You can purchase Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times on Steam.
