Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times is a sort of retro-inspired semi-open world puzzle adventure game where you need to think outside the box, as many of the puzzles can be solved in silly ways. You play as a hot-headed mage who had been imprisoned until a book fell on their head, showing them the way of magic spells.
Turns out, the majority of the other people in this world seems to have disappeared, and you want to figure out why! Along with a strange gem-bug who can give you hints (and seems to previously have been on the cover of the magic book), you can explore around and try to find solves for the various problems that appear.

As you explore in Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times, you will also pick up more runes. These runes are used to cast magic spells. At first, your spell allows you to move things around the map (which is very useful for getting up to new places), but over time you can freeze things, duplicate yourself, and do so much more.
In this game, you do need to look at the world like everything is interactive. Often objects that you don’t think you should move or interact with are exactly how you can solve the issues you are facing. It’s interesting and sort of complex, in a silly way. I do love that your gem-bug can help you, as when I played the demo at New Game Plus, I found myself not quite thinking as wide as the game wants.

Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times feels captivating, whacky, colorful and somehow nostalgic while also feeling so unique. It’s just a very interesting game, with some strange puzzles and the narration is full of character as well.
You can purchase Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times on Steam.
