Breach Wanderers is a roguelike deck builder that brings together card collecting and RPG elements to make something a bit different.
This game does look a bit like Slay the Spire – and that’s clearly been an inspiration – however, unlike Slay the Spire, you can create your own decks. Instead of always hoping to find the best card that can then combo into your deck to create some powerful attacks or defenses, you can create your own deck and play through runs, unlocking more cards, resources to upgrade your guild, and more heroes. These new cards can then be used to create new decks, allowing you a bit more control and strategy on your runs.
These cards won’t be instantly in your deck, but you will have control over each card you do find in your run, which can really change the playing field when it comes to your game. The path you take is branching, giving you hints towards what you are up against, but allows you to have some choice as to where you go. There are a lot of different monsters to face, upgrades to gather, and special events – and each run is different.
Breach Wanderers was a part of the Autumn Festival on Steam, but I got to see the game as a part of the Big Indie Pitch Digital. I quite like the look of the enemies and the simplistic nature of dragging cards out and killing everyone who comes across my path.
Breach Wanderers is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the developer’s site.
