StarCrossed has you and a friend guiding a pair of magical girls as they bounce a dangerous projectile back and forth, using it to defeat enemies and save the Nova Galaxy.
The Harmony Crystal is a pretty handy tool that tends to keep the galaxy as a nice place to hang out in. Keeping the galaxy unified isn’t always of interest to certain parties, and in those times, the crystal will anoint five heroes to help defend it and protect the connected peoples under its care. As you can likely guess, now is one of those times, and five women have been granted the power to make things right.
That power lies in teamwork, though (which draws from the themes of collaboration and friendship that the game’s anime inspirations all explore), so you’ll be bouncing a crushing star back and forth between you and a partner. You can play that partner yourself, or you can bring in a local buddy to help guide the other gal. If you can position yourselves just right, you should be able to thump anything that wants to mess up your empire’s peace. If you can do this with really good timing, you can increase the size and speed of the star, as well as charge up your ultimate attacks. So you should work on that rhythm between you and your partner.
StarCrossed has come a long way since we last looked at it, but still shows a lovely, interesting take on teamwork that should make for a challenge for a lone player or one who wants to fight evil with a friend.
StarCrossed is available now on itch.io and Steam.
