Rock, Paper, Cherry Bomb is one of those games inspired by something everyone knows – Rock, Paper, Scissors – but adds its own unique, challenging twist.
At first, this runner has the same rules as Rock, Paper, Scissors, with the player becoming one of those objects. You run forward, trying to hit characters that you can defeat while jumping over characters that will defeat you. Jumping over a character that you could have hit results in a large amount of negative points.
Once you’ve gotten to the end of the level, you’ll be given some stars and can move onto the next level. The thing is, each level starts to add a new character in the bunch. Soon, you can become fire or dinosaurs, and within the level, you’ll end up hitting bubbles that change your character. This means that you’ll need to constantly remember what beats what in an attempt to keep yourself alive.
In Rock, Paper, Cherry Bomb, you only have one life, so remembering who beats who will be the only thing that keeps you alive. Soon, it’s a race of muscle memory and making quick decisions so that you can continue forward, hopefully making it to the end. I quite like the fun and challenge in the game, which I was introduced to as a part of the Big Indie Pitch Digital event, but I have gone on and taken on the challenge myself as the game is free to play in browsers.
Rock, Paper, Cherry Bomb is playable now on the developer’s site. A mobile version is currently in development.
