Ever wonder what happens when you create the color brown? Well, in Splotches, the paint just explodes – destroying anything around it.
Splotches is a puzzle game where you need to drag paint around the level while keeping in mind exactly what you are mixing. Your goal is to make it to the rainbow ball within the level and combine two colors that then make brown near it. Making the color brown will force the colors to explode, destroying the rainbow orb.
Once the orb is destroyed, it will explode in positive energy, letting it go all over the world. This sounds like a pretty easy task, but as the levels get more challenging, it becomes more of a task to make it to the rainbow orb. There are walls in the way, keys that need to be exploded, and sometimes filters that will only let a specific color through. Colors that make brown are fine to explode keys, unlock walls, and destroy paint splotches that are already on the floor, though.
Sometimes you can end up combining colors to make new colors! This is helpful when it comes to going through new filters, but can become dangerous if you end up making the color black by combining non-primary colors. Black is almost like tar, covering the floor and being impossible to remove. Once a tile has black on it, you cannot move any other color through it.
Splotches quickly becomes quite the challenging puzzler, forcing you to really plan before you paint. Mixing the colors, solving each level, and watching all of this paint explode is very satisfying, though.
Splotches is available for $9.99 on Steam and $4.99 on iOS.
