Silberheim Evolving Card Game (ECG) was recently showcased at the Summer Game Fest 2026 as part of the German Indie Showcase. There, the indie studio Beyond Worlds teased the latest content update for the current beta. The team is making great strides toward the game’s Steam release later this year.

Silberheim ECG aims to evolve the classic collectible card game genre. You will discover proven elements from other CCGs combined with innovative mechanics. The concept behind an “Evolving Card Game” like Silberheim focuses on customization and player participation: your actions influence events within the game and its underlying fantasy world. What you do impacts card evolution – the actual “evolving” of the cards. However, cards do not become more powerful in the same way for every player – instead, the process is individual and tailored to your specific playstyle. Exactly how this works remains a mystery. This evolution affects not only the cards in Silberheim ECG but also the player’s account and the fantasy world itself.
In this way, players influence the lore and storytelling. The fantasy world of Silberheim was created by Beyond Worlds and is currently set in the land of Isdraia on the planet Midoa. The setting is supported by a novel, various spin-offs, and numerous lore articles on the Silberheim website. As in other fantasy worlds, there are diverse races such as goblins, the “Fenn,” and the warlike humans of Morgathal, alongside wild beasts and animals. These factions are also featured in Silberheim ECG, each with its own distinct strategic playstyle.

The overarching goal of Silberheim ECG is to fight for a life on the planet Midoa. You begin as a disembodied soul in the Chamber of Souls, armed with memory fragments (represented by playing cards) from past lives, and compete against other souls for the chance to be reborn.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, Silberheim ECG stands out from other CCGs due to its high level of complexity. Matches are divided into two phases. To win, you must first destroy the opposing fortress. Then, a powerful hero enters the fray; a figure capable of turning the tide of the game. You only secure victory once you have defeated your opponent’s hero. A defiance mechanic is included to prevent matches from being decided in the opening minutes. There are other unique features as well. Notably, the game follows a “Play-to-Win” rather than “Pay-to-Win” model; Silberheim ECG is designed as a one-time purchase, with no option to buy in-game advantages.
The current beta version is available to play and test completely free of charge. The team at Beyond Worlds places great importance on community feedback, believing that listening to the community’s wishes and ideas is essential to creating a great game.
Silberheim ECG is scheduled for release at the end of the year and is currently still in development; however, you can try the beta for free or add Silberheim ECG to your Steam Wishlist.
