Untitled Goose Game is all about being a jerk, but you’re a cute animal so it’s endearing instead of gross and awful. Try it for a bit if you don’t believe me.
It’s a stealth game, but instead of skulking around nuclear facilities, you’re trying to snag a farmer’s lunch and throw it in the river. Or snatch their radio and throw it in the river. Or throw their rake in the river. There’s really a lot for you to do. But since the farmer is a meany who chases you and ruffles your feathers, he probably deserves it. Even if he really only does that if you mess with his things first, But I’m just an innocent bird who doesn’t know better. He should be nicer to me.
The stages take you to a variety of locales and ask you to do unkind, yet hilarious things to them. Maybe you just chase some people around and honk at them. Maybe you throw their stuff around. Every area is basically a playground for you to grab things with your beak and drag them about. You can also interact with a bunch of different things to see what they’ll do. That radio might call the farmer away, giving you a minute to snatch their lunch. It’s all about finding out how you can make the various parts of the level interact with one another.
It’s technically mean-spirited stuff, but with such a goofy, instantly-charming goose protagonist, it’s hard to feel bad about bothering people. And it’s all quite innocent stuff. So, if you need to give in to your inner jerk without being truly bad while doing it, Untitled Goose Game will give you that sweet, evil (yet deeply adorable) release.
Untitled Goose Game is available now on the Nintendo Switch and the Epic Store.
