A new, Eastern and Central European initiative, CEEGA, has been started to celebrate the great games coming from the region.
CEEGA, the Central & Eastern European Game Awards, is coordinated by the Indie Games Polska Foundation. It is a large project that takes a look at games from fifteen countries within the region and is a joint regional operation from fifteen individual organisations to celebrate the multi-national, growing industry of games.
“‘Central & Eastern European Game Awards’ main aims are to strengthen cooperation between game dev communities in our region of Europe, promote video games as a proper medium, as well as attempt to present this region as a crucial place for the video game industry. It is estimated that more than one thousand game studios operate in Central and Eastern Europe now, hiring over 25 thousand people.” says the award program’s press release.
Games from each of the fifteen countries were submitted for various categories including visual art, audio, design, narrative, technology, hidden gem, best mobile game, and best game. You might even recognize some familiar games which have been nominated like PUSS!, Tardy, Dude Stop, Gray Dawn, and Chuchel.
Currently, CEEGA has announced all of the nominated games for the 2018 Central & Eastern European Games Awards, and there are some really lovely-looking indie games sprinkled throughout it. You can find a list of nominees here and follow CEEGA on Twitter for more updates.
A jury of judges from various industry associations and video game media are now going to judge the nominations and decide the winners of each category. The awards ceremony will be held in October, during the Poznań Game Arena and Game Industry Conference.
