For those unfamiliar with the term, Yandere refers to a dangerously love-struck girl, one at a point of frightening obsession and murderous intent. Not exactly attractive for those who want to pursue, you know, living. In Saiko No Sotuka, you’ll be in the nightmare situation of being actively sought after by a terrifying-looking Yandere.
She’ll call for you throughout the halls of an empty school, a voice with an almost playful tone will have you shivering in your slacks. You’ll have to find an escape route, all while evading her and her extremely sharp knife. You can hide in lockers, but it’s possible she’ll still find you. She seems to have a radar for your presence and will home in on you pretty persistently. It’s horrifying.
The biggest draw to Saiko No Sotuka is the absolutely nerve-wracking design of its antagonist. Perfectly circular, gigantic red eyes in an extremely dark setting just rubs me the wrong way. And you are forced to stare at them while you’re hiding from her, hoping that she’ll just go away. Whether she sneaks up behind you, or breaks into a full sprint in your pursuit, you will be terrorized by this overly-obsessed girl. Just hope your passion for living is greater than her passion to murder you.
