Holding down a regular gig isn’t easy, and Mangotronics Employment Collection offers nine such job experiences full of humor and handy ideas.
Feel you’re good at organizing? BoxCorp Employee Training involves pushing and pulling cardboard boxes into place as neatly as possible. Preferably without breaking them or blowing them up, but you’re new on the job. A little devastation is to be expected. If you’re feeling that training is getting ahead of things, Passage is a visual novel about interviews, complete with tips on common questions and tricks that might help you get hired. You might not stay long while you’re blowing up stock, but at least you’ll get in the door.
Once you’re familiar with working, you can get comfortable with your day-to-day duties. Which sometimes involve beating up co-workers to go home early, like in Office Combat. No one can say for sure that you went home early if they were all unconscious, right? You’ll want to get off early after playing Mud Slinger, a game about a barista dealing with an overwhelming amount of customers in an unsafe shop. Although Crap Job might be the more dangerous gig, as you’ll be cleaning windows on a high-rise building while birds and cats give you a hard time. If you’d rather something where your feet stay grounded, you could label cartridges in Crazy Factory. You’ll just need to do it while avoiding a policing force that doesn’t care for how you make a living.
Mangotronics Employment Collection is a lovely clutch of varied experiences, capturing intense work requirements, silly office fights, dangerous environments, and some inspiring stories about careers. Probably the careers that won’t see a cat knocking you off a building or have you dying in an explosion during box sorting training. I’m sure they’re very fulfilling careers, but still.
